Our School - Principal's Welcome

Welcome to the Exmouth District High School website

Our school is located 1,270 kilometres north of Perth on North West Cape near the Cape Range National Park and the world heritage listed Ningaloo Marine Park. The school was established in 1965 and has previously had strong links with the United States of America due to the establishment of the ‘US Naval Communication Station Harold E. Holt’.

Exmouth DHS has set high expectations to realise the academic, social and creative potential of each student. We believe learning should be connected to their student world but also challenge them to aim higher and think creatively. We aim to produce independent and lifelong learners through our quality teaching and learning programs. We value learning, citizenship, gratitude and the development of leadership skills so our students can make a positive contribution to the school and wider community.

Currently, Exmouth DHS caters for approximately 500 students offering primary and secondary education from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our staff and students work in high performance collaborative teams that foster excellence in teaching and learning.

With over 30 experienced teaching staff, the specialised needs of the various year levels and secondary subject areas are ably covered. Our school is committed to connecting with its local environment and community. We are developing strong links with our shire, multi-national corporations and local businesses, Fisheries WA and the Department of Parks and Wildlife.

The school has a caring environment– allowing us to better know you and your children. We have a pastoral care committee that focuses on our whole school approach to student health and well-being. Included in this is a school chaplaincy service and school psychologist service. We thrive on strong community relationships with parents and community members.

By attending Exmouth DHS your child can make the most of our high performance and high care community minded school and enjoy innovative programs and outstanding new quality facilities. I welcome you to contact the school or myself with any enquiries.

Our Values - 2LCRG

Leadership: We believe that all people have the capacity to develop the qualities of leadership. Through emphasising that leadership is not a reward, but rather a responsibility that is centered on serving others. We encourage our people to make a positive contribution to the school and later to the wider community.

Learning: We value learning. We strive to fulfill our potential through the active pursuit of knowledge and skill development.

Citizenship: Citizenship in the modern world is doing the best you can for yourself, for others and for the environment in both local and global contexts.

Gratitude: We demonstrate an attitude of thankfulness for those freedoms, responsibilities and opportunities that we have the privilege to enjoy.

Respect: We all desire the respect of others. We achieve this by treating them with dignity and valuing them as fellow human beings.
