Meet our members

Peter Crommeling - School Board Chair

Experience: Business management, community board positions

It is a pleasure to be chosen as Chair to serve the school and work with our Board. I was appointed to this position at the beginning of 2017. My background is in the management and development of a number of Perth-based national businesses. I have served on the Board of RTR-FM (Community Radio) as Chair for a number of years as well as on boards at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a number of sporting clubs.

A key responsibility of the Board is to establish and oversee a secure and workable system of governance. This involves balancing the legislative and policy requirements of the Department of Education with the unique opportunity we have as an Independent Public School. My objective is to provide leadership to the board and foster a productive and robust environment.

My wife Jade and I have two children, Fraser and Lincoln at EDHS. I am involved on the school Board to ensure our school provides all kids in Exmouth with the best possible educational opportunities and outcomes. Our up-coming Business Plan will guide the school for the next 3 years (2018-2020) and is a great opportunity to build on the success of the school’s achievements from the last couple of years.

Amanda Fuery - Parent Representative

Communications Manager at the Shire of Exmouth

It is really rewarding to be a part of the diverse and passionate group of Exmouth parents, teachers and community members who make up the Exmouth District High School Board.

With three children at the school, being a board member has given me the opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and governance of EDHS and make a positive contribution to my children’s' education.

Over the last year our board has worked diligently to improve its governance and provide valuable insight to the review the school’s business plan. I look forward to continuing to share my professional skills in communication, policy and stakeholder engagement with the board and supporting the ongoing development of our school and its students.

Janet Norriss - Parent Representative

I would like to introduce myself to those who don’t know me. My name is Janet Norriss. I have 2 children attending EDHS who have lived here all their lives. I have lived and operated businesses in Exmouth since 1995 including Planet Burgers and Idaho Boutique. My contribution to committees over the years has enabled me to develop an understanding of how to make things happen and the role of a committee member.

I want people to feel they can approach me with their positive suggestions that will contribute to a rich school environment for our children, staff, parents and community.

So far my short time on the board has been eye opening as to what is actually involved in creating and operating a vibrant district high school, the many facets of managing such a diverse organization and the exciting opportunities that are possible. I look forward to being a member of a group that is keen to see our school grow and prosper.

David Dowding - Community Representative

I have grown up, lived and worked in regional WA most of my life. Exmouth has been my home for the past 15 years. I have worked in management in the banking, fishing and retail industries during my career. I am hoping that this experience will be of value in my role as community representative on the board. I have been involved in many roles within our community’s sporting clubs with a strong involvement with junior teams.

I am excited about the opportunity to be a part of a team that is committed to the development of our town’s students as they plot their course toward adulthood and a career.

Lisa Clay - Community Representative

Business proprietor Wild Soul Industries

Experience: Personal Training, Nutritional Consultation and Australian Distributor for DazzleDu Hair Flair

I have resided in Exmouth for 28 years, and during that time I have watched the town grow and evolve from a business and community perspective. When I arrived in Exmouth the community relied heavily upon employment from two distinct areas; Harold E Holt Naval Communications Station, and Kailis Fisheries; the tourism industry was a very minor sector on the employment front, with the majority of it focused upon fishing charters. I have been fortunate to witness and be involved with the initiation of the whale shark industry and the growth of the eco-tourism that has become what it is today, which has led to a diverse and growing community.

Over the past 28 years I have owned and operated two businesses (one current) and also worked for many years at Harold E Holt and have always been involved with community fundraising and volunteer work – both areas that I am very passionate about and believe are integral in creating a strong community mind set.

Community strength is the reason behind me becoming a member of the EDHS School Board, for it is our students that will become our future community, and if I can help in any way to guide and assist the school in developing the community sense and belonging; along with a good rounded education of our students, required to ensure the continued growth of our town I believe I can positively contribute to aiding the school board to meet it’s goals and targets.

Lyn Irvine - Parent Representative

Experience: BSc; Graduate Diploma of Antarctic and Southern Ocean studies (hons)

I am a marine biologist with a great passion for science and a high regard for education. I believe we have a wonderful school situated in one of the most spectacular places on the planet. I am excited about the opportunity of supporting the school in providing the best education opportunities that our unique environment can offer.

It has been a privilege working with the EDHS staff and board members over the last few months developing the 2018-2020 business plan. I’m looking forward to being involved in its implementation over the next three years and being part of a team that is committed to the development of the children in our community.
