Science

Primary Science

At Exmouth District High School, our Primary Science program provides an engaging, hands‑on learning experience for students from Years 1–6. Our dedicated science space is set up to spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and support students as they develop their understanding of the world around them.

Students investigate real‑world science concepts through practical activities, experiments, and collaborative learning. We guide them through the investigation process, helping them understand how to design a fair test by identifying the variables they will change, measure, and keep the same.

We are proud to connect with a range of organisations and community groups to enrich our science learning and provide students with exciting opportunities and experiences.

Secondary Science

Our Secondary Science program engages students from Years 7 to 12 in a dynamic and hands‑on learning journey aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum. Students explore key areas of Biological, Chemical, Physical, and Earth & Space Sciences, building a strong foundation of scientific knowledge and understanding.

A major focus of our Science program is the development of Science Inquiry Skills. Students learn how to question, predict, plan, investigate, collect and analyse data, and communicate their findings—skills that are essential for scientific thinking and problem‑solving.

Where possible, we connect classroom learning with the incredible natural environment of our region. Our local coastline, marine life, and unique ecosystems provide rich opportunities to bring science to life and help students understand its relevance to the world around them.

Science at Exmouth District High School is an exciting and evolving area of learning. Our teachers continually explore new approaches, technologies, and practical activities to keep students motivated and engaged. Hands‑on experiments and investigations are a core part of our program and are supported by our fantastic laboratory assistant, ensuring students learn in a safe and well‑resourced environment.
